Thame Fire Station to hold open evening for prospective on-call firefighters

7th October 2026

Thame Fire Station is inviting local residents to find out more about becoming an on-call firefighter at an open evening this evening, Wednesday 7 October.

The event will run from 7pm to 9pm at Thame Fire Station and will give prospective recruits the opportunity to meet members of the crew and learn more about the role.

Visitors will be able to watch the firefighters train, find out what being an on-call firefighter involves and ask questions about the recruitment process and day-to-day responsibilities.

The open evening is also an opportunity for anyone interested in supporting their local community to find out how they could make a difference as part of the fire service.

The station is welcoming people who are simply curious about the role as well as those who are already considering applying.

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
