The Thame Chamber Choir and Cllr Andy Wainwright, Deputy Mayor of Thame, will represent Thame at the Sinaia Forever Festival taking place between 11 and 13 September 2026.
Thame Chamber Choir will perform 2 concerts together with ASPE Asociația Socio-Culturală Prahova Excelsior Sinaia SinArmonia Choir. The first concert on Saturday 12th will be an open air one, whilst the second one will take place on Sunday at Sinaia’s Roman Catholic Church.
Thame and Sinaia (Romania) have been twinned as towns since September 2012. Since then there have been several events organised by Thame Sinaia Friendship Association and their counterpart, ASPE Association.
Located in a beautiful mountainous region, at the foothills of the Bucegi Mountains , about 120km from Bucharest and 44km from Brasov, in the Prahova Valley, Sinaia is one of the oldest and most famous Romanian mountain resorts, often referred to as "The Pearl of the Carpathians". Sinaia was first mentioned in documents, as a mountain resort, in 1869, when the locals saw the construction of the town’s first hotel. The beautiful region drew the attention of the Hohenzollern Royal House (Carol I - King of Romania) who built Peles Castle, starting 1873. It became the summer royal residence. Prior to World War II and the abdication of the royal family, Sinaia was a summer retreat for Romania's aristocracy.
