If you’ve walked, run, cycled or ridden along the Phoenix Trail in Thame recently, you may have spotted the new sign that’s gone up near the top of Windmill Road. This is to announce a future development of 31 affordable homes, on land next to the Stones Close allotments.
These homes will be prioritised for local people and others with a strong connection to the Thame area who aren’t presently able to live here, for financial reasons. The development is the result of a lot of hard work by the Thame Community Land Trust (CLT) – a local charitable organisation – and comes on the back of a Local Housing Needs Survey that was carried out in 2019, which identified a need for these types of homes.
The CLT has now organised a new Local Housing Needs Survey, which will hopefully lead to further affordable housing provision for local people in the Thame area.
If you are interested or know someone else who might be, you can pick up a hard copy of the survey from Thame Town Hall or Thame Library, or it can be completed online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/THAMEHOUSING
The deadline for completing the survey is Sunday 5 October.
