Thame had 3 winners in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2018

Thame had 3 winners in the 2018 Muddy Stilettos Awards 2018 for Bucks and Oxon.

The Book House won the Best Book Shop, FROM won the Best Gift Shop and Deb Porter Photography won the Best Photographer Award.

Muddy Stilettos first tottered into the world in 2011 as a way for journalist Hero Brown (Independent on Sunday, The ObserverRedMarie ClaireElle) to find out the fun stuff to do in Bucks & Oxon, having moved out of London that summer with husband and baby son in tow.

Quickly Muddy Stilettos caught on locally to become the ultimate ‘urban guide to the countryside’ – a witty, super-useful insider’s guide to the very best food, walks, boutiques, day trips, hotels, interiors and events for smart, fun-loving women living outside London.

A extract from the Muddy Stilettos website about the winners is below:

The Muddy Stilettos Awards 2018 romped to a close on Friday with thousands upon thousands of you supporting the local businesses you love the most.

If you’re a regular reader (or voter!) you’ll know that The Muddy Awards are free to all and run as a good-natured, positive celebration of the most brilliant, unique and unmissable businesses across the Muddy counties. Over 20,000 of you voted in the Bucks/Oxon Awards across 24 lifestyle categories, showing how much we all appreciate independence and creativity.

From yours truly – a gibbering wreck of an editor, crossed eyed with checking spreadsheets  – it’s a heartfelt and whopping great THANK YOU and multiple love emoji  to everyone who took part or voted.

But enough blather from me. Want to meet your winners? All fabulous and worthy of your applause and hopefully quite a few businesses you don’t already know about so you can use them to plan your fun for the rest of 2018!

Hero x

Death Cafe @ Thame Barns Centre
You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
