A late-night police stop on the B4445 between Thame and Chinnor resulted in the arrest of multiple individuals suspected of illegal hunting activities.
PC Woolley from the Taskforce pulled over a vehicle in the area, with PC Hudson from response assisting in the search of both the individuals and their vehicle under Section 8 of the Hunting Act.
The males, who were not local residents, were found in possession of lurchers, slip leads, and poaching lamps—items commonly associated with illegal hare coursing. As a result, they were arrested on suspicion of going equipped to search for or pursue hares with dogs.
The suspects have since been interviewed and released on bail while further investigations are carried out. Police continue their inquiries into the incident and encourage the public to report any suspicious activity related to wildlife crime.
Authorities remain vigilant in tackling illegal hunting and poaching in rural areas, reinforcing their commitment to protecting local wildlife and enforcing the Hunting Act.
