After a successful start to the season Chinnor Girls & Ladies have picked up their first trophy

Chinnor Girls & Ladies, part of the Chinnor FC & Chinnor Youth Football Club have had a successful start to the season, and have already picked up their first trophy to the season.

Not only have the Ladies picked up 6 points from their first two fixtures, against local friends Aylesbury & Oxford Brookes, the Club were awarded Charter Standard Club of the year at the annual Oxfordshire FA award evening hosted at Oxford United.

The Ladies & Chinnor Youth have fully supported the FA's Wildcats programme to increase female participation in the sport, and over 12 months, have grown from 10 local girls up to 30 girls.

"The premise behind the programme is to enable girls to fall in love with the sport, enhance their agility, balance & coordination, and ready them for any future sports in the future, not just football.  We have girls from local villages turn up with different abilities, of which some have started to play mixed football with Chinnor Youth, one winning player of the game at the weekend." beamed Gemma Clark, Manager of Chinnor Ladies.

Gemma added "We're spending a lot of time, and in conjunction with the hard work Terry Devine has inputted, along with Katie Wales, the girls are gaining more confidence by the week & we're hopeful that we can create a Ladies Team of the future, right now."
