Active Oxfordshire is a county wide charity whose work centres around fighting inactivity and encouraging more of the population within Oxfordshire to be active. They also support partners and carry out campaigns ourselves aimed at supporting those families who are most vulnerable, due to a wide range of factors such as long-term illness or low financial income.
This year, alongside AgeUK and Sir Muir Gray, they are helping to run and promote a campaign titled 'Share your Warmth'. Effectively, this campaign is asking those who receive a winter fuel allowance, and do not need it, whether they would like to donate some or all of it towards helping support the elderly and vulnerable during the winter. Although this is the primary target audience, there is nothing stopping those who do not receive a fuel allowance donating should they wish to. Donations go towards the following
- Supporting housebound people to do specialist seated exercise at home.
- Supporting older people to attend tailored group exercise classes.
- A telephone call for a friendly chat
In the current circumstances with Covid-19, work like this is more important than ever and this coming winter may prove to be incredibly hard for many. To donate please use the following JustGiving link. https://justgiving.com/campaign/warmth
