Thame's Neighbourhood Policing team have released their monthly report for January, details of which can be found below.
Anti-social Behaviour (ASB)
After receiving numerous complaints regarding ASB outside Co-op and Costa in the High Street, Thame, we arranged for a Section 35 to be in place. A Section 35 is a notice to leave the area for up to 48 hours should anyone be seen to be causing ASB. Failure to comply with this is an offence that you could be arrested for. A meeting was arranged with Costa management to discuss the issues and put measures in place to tackle the behaviour.
Crime Prevention
As the winter months are coming in, the darkness is drawing in earlier. This provides thieves more opportunity to commit crime during the darkness. Here are some tips to help you prevent becoming a victim of crime:
- Close and lock doors and windows when going out or to bed.
- Keep valuables out of sight.
- Don’t advertise you’re out – invest in a light timer!
- If you’re going on holiday, ask your neighbours to keep an eye on your house
- Have you checked your home security?
- Lighting is very important and having a timer switch for a table lamp can light up your home even when you’re not at home. Also ensure all your security lights are working and you have a good solid padlock fitted to outside buildings such as sheds and garages. Please also think about safe cycling now the evenings are dark. Make sure you and your children and have bike lights, helmets and high visibility clothing. Even the ride home from school can be dark and paper rounds in the morning!
Parking
There has been reports of vehicles parking close to junctions and parking on each side of the road making it difficult or impossible for emergency vehicles to get through. We appreciate that every household has limited parking and more than one vehicle. Please park considerately and be mindful of other driver’s visibility and access when parking your vehicle. An operation will be running shortly with the Fire Service looking at access routes, and could possibly mean offending vehicles could receive a Fixed Penalty Notice for £30 should the Emergency vehicle not be able to gain access through.
