2nd November 2026
Community-minded residents are invited to a free workshop exploring emergency preparedness, environmental challenges and community resilience at Benson Parish Hall on Saturday 7 November 2026, from 9am to 1.30pm.
Organised by Rotary in the Thames Valley District, to which Chinnor Rotary belongs, the ‘Are you prepared?’ workshop will bring together speakers covering practical ways to understand local needs and build resilience. Entry is free, with complimentary tea and coffee provided.
The programme will include a Rotary Scholar speaking about flood prevention, alongside sessions on how an urban forest helps address climate change and how to build resilience in the community. Attendees will also hear how to carry out a community needs analysis to identify the resources available locally.
Other topics include what to put in a grab bag if residents need to leave their homes in a hurry, and Martyn’s Law and its impact on some community and Rotary events.
Visitors interested in joining Rotary can meet Chinnor Rotary member Marius Ciortan at the membership display counter. In his role as District Membership Lead, he will be available to take membership requests.
The workshop takes place at Benson Parish Hall, Sunnyside, Benson, Oxfordshire OX10 6LZ. Community-minded people are invited to attend and find out more about preparing themselves and their communities.
