Residents and motorists in the area should prepare for significant road closures as part of High Speed Two (HS2) construction works, affecting the A418 Oxford Road and Meadoway.
According to a notice from EKFB, the construction partnership delivering the HS2 project, a series of roadworks will take place between early April and the end of June. The works involve installing a new gas pipeline and carrying out essential drainage, utility, and verge works.
The closure schedule is as follows:
- A418 Oxford Road Closure – A full weekend road closure will be in place from Friday, April 4th, 8:30 PM to Monday, April 7th, 5:30 AM. Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained, with cyclists required to dismount.
- Meadoway Junction Closure – A longer-term closure will take effect from Friday, April 4th, 8:30 PM until Monday, June 30th, 5:30 AM. This is necessary to complete gas utility diversion works. Residents of Meadoway and Mayflower Close will have access via Sedrup Lane junction.
Impact on Local Travel
The full road closure of A418 Oxford Road is expected to increase travel time for commuters. There will be no access to Meadoway from the Oxford Road junction during the closure.
