A 'pleasant surprise' at Thame Coffee House

A local foody wrote to us after her recent visit to The Coffee House in Thame. After the recent change of Management we were intrigued to see if there were many changes, for better or for worse!

'What a surprisingly pleasant experience! Yes the decor wasn't overly different to the previous reign, (this was no comparison to the Black Horse Tea Room transformation!) however a waitress who smiled, and very politely took our order was overly refreshing after past experiences. Friendly - CHECK, professional - CHECK, fast - CHECK. It was a prompt, warm welcome at what had become a tired, run down establishment. Even the new Manager was very friendly and welcomed us as we made our way through the maze of tables and chairs.

Drinks arrived quickly, all arriving together (again a first in my experience!).  Food order followed, I anticipated the usual 'Sorry we have run out of that' or, 'I don't know what that is I will go and check with the chef'. To my pleasant surprise the waitress knew her stuff, clean cutlery followed and a short 10 minute wait (when it was quite busy) for my breakfast, with poached egg (just to be awkward) and an extra sausage (just to be more awkward) arrived.

The food was HOT (I have often sent food back due to it being cold or undercooked) and presented really nicely, no oil spills around the edges! I tucked into what was one of the most enjoyable breakfasts I've had in a long while.

If you've had a bad experience there before, try it again...I even tipped as I left, which I have never done at The Coffee House before. Well done on a vast improvement to the management since you have taken over, I will be back!!'
