The main housing site in Thame’s second Neighbourhood Plan (TNP2) was granted planning permission by South Oxfordshire District Council on 7 May 2026. The planning application, P23/S4262/FUL, for 111 homes at Land North of Oxford Road has been through five rounds of amendments since it was first submitted at the end of 2023, including a reduction in the number of homes from 154 to 111. The District Council judged that the proposal was compliant with the development plan and that material objections had been overcome or could be managed through planning conditions.
The Town Council originally objected to the application but in December 2025 felt able to support the latest amendments, while making comments regarding First Homes and the Haddenham-Thame active travel connection.
The decision was therefore delegated to District Council officers, using the District’s recently altered scheme for delegation, rather than it being taken to their Planning Committee.
Further details on the planning permission can be found in the District Council’s report (available via P23/S4262/FUL under ‘Documents’, then ‘Decision’, and the document title is ‘Delegated Report’ dated 11/05/2026).
