Oxfordshire County Council Seeks Public Input on Proposed Thame 'Zonal' Car Club

6th February 2025

Oxfordshire County Council is inviting residents to take part in an online consultation regarding a proposed 'Zonal' Car Club for Thame. The initiative aims to offer a low-emission, shared transport solution for local residents and businesses. The consultation is open until February 14, 2025, and the council encourages as many people as possible to share their views.

The proposal involves the introduction of a hybrid car club vehicle, which would be available in existing ‘Residents Parking’ bays marked with a ‘TH’ prefix. The initiative is being funded through a Section 106 agreement from a nearby development and is designed to:

  • Provide residents in and around the Wenman Road development with access to a low-emission hybrid car club vehicle, reducing reliance on private car ownership and promoting sustainable transport options.
  • Offer an affordable transport alternative for residents without private vehicles, eliminating the costs and responsibilities associated with car ownership.
  • Enable local businesses and organizations to use a shared low-emission vehicle for work purposes, reducing dependence on higher-emission fleet vehicles.

Residents can find more details and submit their feedback via the council's consultation portal at: https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/thame_zonalcarclub2025.

Any objections or other representations should be submitted by Friday, February 14, 2025. This is an opportunity for the Thame community to have their say on a transport initiative that could shape the future of local mobility.
