The Oxford Waits are a costume band performing songs and tunes on period instruments, along with readings giving an insight into 17th century life. They will be performing a concert called Frolics of Oxfordshire at St Mary’s Church in Thame at 7.30pm on Sat 18 June, put on by Thame History Fair. Tickets are £10.00 each and are available from the Museum, Town Hall, Book House and online via www.thamemuseum.org.
Thame History Fair is being put on by Thame Museum and is at the Town Hall on Sunday 19 June 10.00am - 4.00pm (free entry). At 9.30am the John Hampden Society will be laying a wreath at the site of the house where John Hampden died and will then be exhibiting at the History Fair. There will be a range of historical organisations exhibiting, as well as children’s activities, guided walks during the day and a talk at midday by Cotswold Archaeology, on the major 2015 archaeological excavations at Thame Meadows. Guided walks will focus on some of Thame’s historic buildings. There will be two walks in the morning, to the west at 10.30am and to the east at 11.30am. They will be repeated in the afternoon at 1.30pm and 2.30pm. The results of the Look About Art Competition will be announced around 11.15am.
