Local residents and motorists should prepare for travel disruptions as HS2 has announced an overnight closure of the A418 Oxford Road. The closure is necessary to facilitate the removal of a redundant underground cable near the A418 bridge.
The works, which involve the use of vacuum excavators to navigate live utilities, are expected to generate some noise and dust in the immediate area.
Key Closure Details
The project is scheduled to take place overnight to minimize the impact on daytime traffic, but it will extend into Sunday afternoon with restricted access.
- Location: A418 Oxford Road, between the Coldharbour roundabout and Stone, specifically opposite the EKFB A418 compound site entrance.
- Full Road Closure: From 8:30 pm on Saturday, 18 April until 5:30 am on Sunday, 19 April.
- Partial Reopening: The road will reopen at 5:30 am on Sunday under a single lane closure, which will remain in effect until 1:00 pm.
- Contingency Dates: In the event of delays, HS2 has reserved 22 April to 23 April to complete the works.
