THE Deputy Mayor of Thame, Cllr Nigel Champken-Woods, will be in the frame on Tuesday (22 February) when he visits Specsavers on the High Street as the store celebrates its first birthday.
Cllr Champken-Woods, who will be joined by his wife Alison, is attending the store to mark the milestone and help celebrate with the 11 strong team.
‘We can’t quite believe it’s been a year since we first opened our doors,’ comments Specsavers Thame store director, Neil Perry. ‘Opening on the high street this time last year, during the second lockdown, meant that we couldn’t really celebrate our arrival in Thame, so we thought we’d mark our first birthday instead.’
‘It’s been a whirlwind first 12 months and its had its challenges given that we opened during the pandemic,’ adds Nishita Chauhan, optical director at Specsavers Thame. ‘We are so grateful to everyone in welcoming us to the town and to all our customers for their support. We already feel part of the community and we look forward to developing our connections further – giving back is something that’s so important to Neil and I.’
Specsavers Thame benefits from the latest in optical equipment which includes an Optical Coherence Technology (OCT) machine, usually found in hospital eye departments, which produces a detailed structural scan of the eye. A sound-proofed audiology room is available for hearing appointments. For more information or to book an eye or hearing test, call the store on 01844 394765 or visit https://www.specsavers.co.uk/stores/thame
In line with guidance from the NHS, Specsavers is keeping safety measures in place, including the wearing of face coverings, unless there is a medical exemption. This includes maintaining social distancing in stores, continuing to use PPE and sanitising all testing equipment and frames before and after each use. Doors will be kept open whenever possible to improve ventilation and although card payments are still preferred, cash payments will be accepted too.
Specsavers will also continue to operate its Ask The Expert chat function on its website and its RemoteCare service, which enable customers to speak to an expert from the comfort of their home via video call or phone.
