A new monthly Death Cafe is set to begin in Thame this January, offering residents a welcoming and non-judgmental environment to openly discuss topics related to death and dying.
The inaugural event will take place on Thursday, 15th January 2026, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at Room 1, The Barns Centre, Church Road, Thame, OX9 3AJ. Following the launch, the gatherings will continue on the third Thursday of every month.Organised in line with the global Death Cafe movement, these sessions provide a relaxed group-directed discussion with no fixed agenda or themes. Participants are invited to share thoughts on whatever aspects of death, dying, or living are on their minds, all while enjoying tea and cake.The Thame Death Cafe aims to create a safe space for open conversation, helping to normalise discussions around a subject often considered taboo. Attendance is free, though donations are welcomed to support the events.

Death Cafes have been held worldwide since 2011, with the goal of increasing awareness of death to encourage people to make the most of their lives. This new addition in Thame marks an exciting opportunity for the local community to join the conversation.
