New Community Pharmacy Set to Open in Thame

27th April 2026

A new community pharmacy is set to open its doors in Thame this week, bringing expanded healthcare services and improved access for local residents.

Thame Pharmacy has confirmed it will officially launch on 29 April, with a mission to provide a modern, accessible, and patient-focused service for people in the town and surrounding areas.

Located at Thame Community Hospital on East Street, the pharmacy is expected to become a convenient hub for both NHS and private healthcare services.

Focus on Convenience and Accessibility

The new pharmacy will be open seven days a week, offering greater flexibility for patients who may struggle to access services during traditional opening hours.

Among its key features are free prescription delivery for housebound patients and those aged 60 and over, as well as text message notifications to alert customers when their prescriptions are ready.

Patients looking to avoid long waits can also register online in advance to have their prescriptions dispensed through the pharmacy.

Wide Range of NHS and Private Services

Thame Pharmacy will provide a broad range of services through the NHS, alongside additional private healthcare options.

Services will include:

  • NHS and private prescription dispensing
  • Free blood pressure checks
  • Travel clinic and vaccinations

A major feature of the pharmacy will be its participation in the Pharmacy First scheme, which allows pharmacists to assess and treat common conditions without the need for a GP appointment.

These include earache, sore throat, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles, sinusitis and urinary tract infections.

Supporting the Local Community

The team behind Thame Pharmacy says its goal is to make healthcare simpler, faster, and more convenient for patients.

By combining seven-day access, delivery services, and walk-in treatment options, the pharmacy aims to reduce pressure on local GP services while ensuring residents receive timely care.

Opening Details

Thame Pharmacy will open on 29 April at Thame Community Hospital, East Street, OX3JT.

Residents can find out more, register for services, or stay updated by visiting the pharmacy’s website or contacting the team directly.

With its official launch just days away, the pharmacy is preparing to welcome its first patients and establish itself as a key part of Thame’s local healthcare network.

We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space.
