Our Memorial Gardens have always been a peaceful place to rest a while, and recently they have got even better. Cllr Ann Midwinter who stepped down as Mayor this week, has been busy with some of her last Mayoral duties including the planting of a rose alongside one planted by Thame Amnesty Group - replacing one that had previously died; the installation of a Silhouette in remembrance of all who died during the pandemic and to acknowledge the dedication and timeless efforts of those who work for the NHS, Health Workers, Armed Forces and Key Workers; and reopening the Pearce Memorial Fountain which is once again working after the long awaited refurbishment to the Memorial Gardens was completed. The picture on the left above show a younger Mayor Ann Midwinter alongside the artist Faith Winter - the talent behind the statue currently standing in pride of place on the fountain; alongside another picture of her last week beside the newly restored fountain as it stands today.
