Local Strongman Ashley Roff Set to Compete in Summer Showdown at Banbury Rugby Club

23rd June 2025

Competitive strongman Ashley Roff is set to take on some of the top athletes in the region this August at the highly anticipated Summer Showdown 2025, held at Banbury Rugby Club.

Representing Thame, Roff has built a strong reputation on the national strongman circuit, competing in events across the country. But this upcoming contest, scheduled for August 2nd, holds particular significance—not just for the competition, but for the personal journey that brought him here.

Over the past few months, Ashley has undergone a remarkable transformation, shedding nearly 40 kilograms. He has dropped from 134kg to an impressive 107kg, with plans to compete at 98kg for this event—his lightest competition weight yet.

“I’m feeling stronger, faster, and more focused than ever,” said Roff. “This is the best shape I’ve been in, and I’m aiming for the top.”

The Summer Showdown 2025 promises a high-energy day of elite strongman competition and is hosted by none other than Paddy Haynes—Europe’s second strongest man and ranked fifth in the world. The event is expected to draw fans from across Oxfordshire and beyond.

Tickets are now available for spectators eager to witness feats of strength and athleticism. Whether you're a strongman enthusiast or just looking for a thrilling day out, Banbury Rugby Club will be the place to be on August 2nd.
