A new Blue Plaque has recently been unveiled to mark the birthplace in Thame of Frank Kirby VC CBE DCM, accompanied by an event attended by many of his descendants plus representatives from the Royal Engineers and the Royal Air Force. The plaque is on the wall of 18 High Street, next door to Domino's Pizza. A temporary exhibition covering Frank Kirby’s life and career, with artefacts and memorabilia and with details of his heroic action, has been hosted at Thame Museum for the last two weeks but must finish soon, so this Saturday is the last opportunity to see his full story (10.00am – 4.00pm, entrance free).
To complement the occasion Thame Town Council have also produced a new information leaflet which covers all of the Commemorative Plaques in our town and is available from the Town Hall and the Museum.
