29th October 2026
For the fourth year running, poppies have been put on display around Thame. Each one represents the 212 names on the War Memorials in Thame and Moreton. You can find the poppies on roads in and around the town centre, and on some roads you'll find poppies showing the names and the last addresses of the men before they went to war. Every poppy tells a story. If you’re in town this week, take a moment to read some of the names and ages.
Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who helped put up the poppies: Bill Rogers, Jack Gifford, Sophie Greene, Lesley Mott, Cassie Pinnells, Mark Pinnells, Rachel Forshaw, Nige Forshaw, and Rochelle Dennie.
Thank you also to the Dean Family who generously provided a donation in memory of Paul Dean to enable the Royal British Legion (Thame Branch) to purchase more poppies this year.
If you would like to support the Royal British Legion, you can find them selling poppies and merchandise outside the Town Hall on Mondays through to Saturdays. If you'd like to join the friendly Poppy Appeal team in Thame, please contact Keith Wallington on 07776 594001. Or, if you would you like to join the Thame Royal British Legion, please contact Roger MacKriell on 01844 212457.
