The Red Kites fell to a last-minute winner at Hadley on Saturday afternoon despite a performance that was full of grit and determination.
Despite a tough week and some changes to both the squad and starting line-up, there was a positive feel to the pre-match preparations and hopes of a result to turn around the recent form.
The first half was an even affair, the hosts slightly domination possession and they had two early efforts hit the woodwork whilst at the other end Dan West saw an effort from close-range blocked but Thame weren't able to create too much that tested the Hadley keeper.
The second half saw Thame take the lead. A quick free-kick saw Dan West, playing at centre back, ping a superb pass out to Greg Hackett. Hackett skinned the Hadley full back and his ball into the danger area was turned in to his own net by a Hadley defender.
Thame were working hard for each other and as the half wore on understandably dropped deeper, desperate to hold on to a potential 3 points.
The home side grabbed an equaliser with 7 minutes remaining when a corner was headed down on the edge of the 6-yard box and a Hadley played was there to stab home.
As the clock ticked into the 93rd minute a Hadley break saw one of their forward players brought down in the box and the referee didn't hesitate in pointing to the spot. The penalty was converted and the hosts took all 3 points.
A disappointing outcome for players, management & supporters but enough fight & spirit in the performance to know that a positive result is not far away
