Dive into the secrets of organising, managing and running a food festival with Lotte Duncan and Jon Hackett with their Truly Scrumptious Podcast.
They bring a unique insight into behind the scenes of various food festivals talking about Festival Food, with Foodie Friends and Friends of the Festival. In each episode, they chat to chefs and bakers, food producers, the festival team and other people involved in the festival world.
Lotte has long been part of the foodie world. She has owned and run a cookery school and café, worked in television, hosted stages at many live shows, interviewed a myriad of chefs and bakers and written a best-selling cookbook. However, for the last 10 years she’s been involved in Food Festivals; with the last 8 years also spending her Springs and Summers judging food for the Great Taste Awards.
Her partner and fellow festival organiser comes from an advertising and film making background. His role at the festivals extends from the weird to the wonderful. Everything logistics related from fencing to marquees, infrastructure to loos and power supply to bins.
As Lotte says, “I am a food writer, presenter and eater! I have been involved in many areas of the food industry for over forty years. More recently this has centred around food festivals. And this is a huge world. It’s hardwork, great fun, but a tad stressful at times too.”
“There are so many stories to share about what is involved in creating the magic that food festivals deliver, which is why we decided to start doing a podcast. It is a great way to relay what we are so passionate about and what people don’t always see when coming to a festival”, says Jon.
The first few episodes chat Mary Berry with Doddie the Duchess of Bunting and Queen of the Green Room, discuss Italian bakes with Great British Bake Off winner Giuseppe Dell’Anno, flirt with sponge cake with Stephen Carter Bailey, cosy up in the car with the first ever GBBO winner, Edd Kimber and his new book - Small Batch Bakes and then drink a Cornish tipple in a distillery near Falmouth.
Easily accessible and hosted on Acast, it can easily be found on Spotify and Apple Podcasts - and many other platforms. It brings to life the backstage gossip, tips and tricks from the chefs and bakers and just how it is all pulled together to create a truly scrumptious foodie festival weekend!
