Residents across Oxfordshire are being urged to get their electric blankets checked for safety ahead of the winter months, with a free testing session coming to Thame later this month.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, alongside local partners, is offering free electric blanket safety checks as part of a campaign to help residents stay safe when using electric blankets and other electrical heating products.

Residents are encouraged to bring a friend and have their electric blanket checked, with free safety information and advice also available.
The campaign is visiting locations across Oxfordshire during September and October, including Rose Hill Community Centre in Oxford, The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury, Willow Gardens in Chipping Norton and Abingdon Fire Station.

Appointments are pre-booked only and are available on a first-served basis.
Residents who are unable to attend a session can also request a limited collection service from their home if required.

Alternatively, appointments can be booked online through the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service's electric blanket testing service.
Residents are encouraged to get their blankets checked before they start using them regularly this winter, particularly if the blanket is old or has not been inspected recently.
