A former Lord Williams’s student is bidding to become Miss England 2019.
20 year old Florence Savage who grew up in Sydenham, has made the Midlands semi-finals of Miss England.
Florence applied for Miss Birmingham whilst attending university at Birmingham, after initially losing out in a public vote the judges decided to put her through to the next round. Thanks to her work place care home; Cumnor Hill House, she now has a sponsor for the Miss Birmingham phase of the competition.
Along with taking part in the traditional Catwalk Style Contest, Miss England contestants who reach the final are encouraged to:
- Raise funds & awareness for Beauty with a Purpose
- Arrange sponsored gifts to donate to charity
- Take part in a creative ECO fashion round
- Compete in a sports round
- Complete a general knowledge quiz
- Take part in a beach beauty shoot
- Submit a short video for the talent round
To support her cause Florence will be raising money for the charity Papyrus.
Papyrus helps young adults when they are in their darkest moments and is a charity aimed at preventing suicide. To raise money she plans to compete in the Great Manchester run and do a bake sale at university.
Florence who lists volunteering as one of her big passions had the following to say “Beauty is on the inside, the kindness we have and use makes us beautiful”
The Midlands semi-final will be held in Birmingham on June 2nd 2019. You can find out more about the competition and track Florence’s progress at www.missengland.info/qualifiers/semi-final-midlands/
