Thame won a tough fixture at a rejuvenated Grendon on Saturday, 4-1 only 4 days after the same teams played on Tuesday night. Grendon under new management and with several new signings looked to impress on a cold and windy day. They set about Thame with a high tempo and physicality designed to upset Thame's flowing football. Thame however were coping well and fashioned the early chances, but the ball just wouldn't fall right for the shot. Grendon then forced a corner and from the weak clearance Adam Bone was able to force the ball home for Grendon.
This buoyed the home team but it wasn't to be for long as Thame struck twice just before the whistle to make it 2-1 at half time. First Delderfield slammed home from a corner before another well worked corner routine by Almond was slotted home by Prosper from close range.
Second half and Thame took control fashioning several chances before Almond cutting in from the left, bent the ball perfectly round the keeper and into the bottom corner from just outside the 18 yard box. Brown then added the 4th when bursting in from the left and he crashed the ball into the top of the net past the diving keeper.
The win returns FC Thame to top of the league after being temporarily knocked off by Enfield Borough. Thame now play fellow title rivals Tottenhoe at home next Saturday.
