Explore the Chilterns: Free Guided Walk from Lewknor to Chinnor This Sunday

27th February 2025

The Chiltern Society invites outdoor enthusiasts to a complimentary guided walk on Sunday, March 2, 2025, starting at 10:00 am. Participants will embark on a 5-mile circular route from Lewknor, Oxfordshire, traversing the Ridgeway towards Chinnor and returning through the picturesque villages of Crowell, Kingston Blount, and Aston Rowant.

Walkers are to convene outside The Leathern Bottle pub on High Street, Lewknor (OX49 5TW). Parking is available along the High Street; those planning to dine at the pub post-walk may use the pub's car park. The Leathern Bottle, a historic establishment over 450 years old, is renowned for its warm atmosphere and quality home-cooked meals.

The weather forecast for Lewknor on March 2 predicts abundant sunshine, with temperatures ranging from a low of 31°F (0°C) to a high of 49°F (10°C). Participants are advised to dress accordingly and wear suitable footwear for the walk.

While the walk is free, booking is essential and can be completed online. Attendees are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes before the start time. Non-members of the Chiltern Society are welcome to join up to three walks before membership is encouraged.

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session.
