The Midlands NBA Committee invite you to attend an Autumn Farm Walk on Wednesday 19th September 2018 at 5pm at College Farm, near Thame - kindly hosted by the Morris family.
Dorcas Charolais are a 300 strong pedigree suckler herd run on a commercial basis. 25 years of vigorous selection since the herd was founded, has led to an exceptional herd of milky, docile, easy calving Charolais cattle. George Morris AI’s the best cattle himself and has introduced genetics from across the globe, using blood lines from Sweden, Canada and the US.
Each year the top 10% of young bulls are selected for breeding and sold at auction and privately and 30-40 heifer replacements are being retained each year calving at 2 years old. The remaining progeny is finished commercially on farm and are sold deadweight through Thame Farmers Mart with bulls grading E/U, killing at 60% at under 15 months of age.
The farm walk will include a range of informative talks followed by refreshments which are kindly sponsored by Stowag and Thame Farmers Mart.
Open to all with an interest in the industry. The NBA looks forward to seeing you there.
