On the weekend of 3rd & 4th June, a record fourteen Chinnor gardens will be open to the public between 1 and 6 pm. The gardens are very varied: small cottage gardens, eco-friendly, brand new, gardens with ponds, lawns and trees and views of the Chilterns.
This year we will be featuring talented local artists and craftspeople in some gardens and at St Andrew's church. They will be displaying & demonstrating their skills. We have a pole lathe turner, or bodger as they were known many years ago. Other crafts include stained glass, pottery, patchwork, willow weaving, wood turning, tapestry weaving and the list goes on! Just Come and explore Chinnor.
Mill Lane Community School, Chinnor windmill and Chinnor allotments will also be open on both days. In conjunction with the open gardens St. Andrew’s church is hosting its annual Flower Festival with the theme of 'A jolly good read in the garden' Cream teas served!
Refreshments are available at the Wee Bookshop, where profits from sales go to 'Fight Bladder Cancer' charity. The WI will be serving refreshments in one of the gardens too. Lots to see and plenty of opportunities to sit down and take a break.
Come and spend some time in our friendly community, have a wonderful weekend full of horticultural and artistic inspiration! The cost to visit the gardens is £5 for the weekend and money raised goes to the following charities and community groups: Autism Oxford, Chinnor Community 1st Responders, Chinnor Scouts, Fight Bladder Cancer, Forget Me Knot Cafe and St Andrew's church.
