Because the River Thame covers such a large area, River Thame Conservation Trust is hosting a series of workshops, each focused on specific sub-catchment areas to address local challenges. For this workshop, we're inviting residents from Thame, Long Crendon, Chinnor, Aston Rowant and other nearby villages to join us for a Community Currents Workshop focused on local river conservation efforts around the Cuttlebrook, Chinnor and Sydenham Brooks.
Whether you're a current RTCT volunteer, a farmer in the Thame Catchment Farm Cluster, a local councillor, a community leader, or someone new to volunteering in river conservation, this is a great opportunity to get involved in the health of the River Thame and its many tributaries.
In this workshop, we will explore:
Our Understanding of the Rivers: Insights into the ecology, health, and water quality of these river systems, based on data collected by our citizen scientist volunteers, and identifying areas where more information is needed.
Local Challenges: A discussion of the key health issues and challenges faced by the Cuttlebrook, Chinnor Brook, and Sydenham Brook.
Opportunities for Improvement: An overview of potential projects for river restoration, habitat creation, and water quality enhancements that we hope to initiate.
Community Action: How local residents can support the protection of these watercourses through Neighbourhood Plans and other community-driven initiatives.
Booking is required as spaces are limited but all are welcome. Parking is available at Thame Barns Centre with additional car parking a short walk away in Thame.
