You’ll be in for a thoroughly murderous evening when you come to the Spread Eagle Hotel, Thame next Friday 24th September! Thame Players are moving in to perform a murder mystery play, based very loosely on the murderous exploits that happen all too frequently in the hit TV series Midsomer Murders.
Thame Players have put together an intriguing whodunnit in which the audience are asked to guess who the murderer is, all while enjoying a delicious three-course dinner served by the Spread Eagle Hotel, itself a Midsomer Murders filming location. The action takes place at Midsomer Mistry Manor in the beautiful village of Midsomer Mistry, the prestigious stately home of Randolph Cummins. Randolph is chairman of the Cummins and Gowans company, and he has gathered all the shareholders together for the annual shareholders’ dinner. The guests include his wife Hermione, his daughter Natalie, Miss Fortune, the governess to his two younger daughters, and his finance director Jimmy Riddle with his wife Camilla. Also present are friends and fellow shareholders, Tim Barnaby, the retired Detective Chief Inspector from Midsomer County’s Causton CID, and George Bollard, the former Midsomer pathologist and now family doctor to the Cummins family.
The festivities are in full swing, but the conversation reveals a number of skeletons in various cupboards. And then disaster: a death occurs …. The audience are invited to join the other guests in deciding who the guilty party is, to question the suspects, and act as judge and jury in the case.
Directing the play for Thame Players is Pat Shepherd, an experienced producer of murder mystery plays. She commented, “We have had a lot of fun putting this show together and can’t wait to perform it for our audience at The Spread Eagle. It is certain to be a murderously funny evening which guests are sure to enjoy!”
