Chearsley Author Launches Collection to Re-ignite Teen Interest in Reading

12th March 2026

Re-igniting a love for the unexplained in young adult readers, Chearsley-based Award-Winning Script Writer and Author, Jessica Wolf, is proud to present a new collection of short stories; In All Of Its Gruesome Glory.

The collection, crafted to pull readers into atmospheric, fast-paced worlds, features three distinct but thematically linked narratives exploring what happens when humanities curiosity goes too far. At a time when the world feels more digital and predictable than ever, Wolf's stories serve as a visceral reminder that the wild world is still out there – and it's watching us.

Available now, In All Of Its Gruesome Glory features three stories:

Tales Of The Deep: A boy witnesses the brutal capture of a creature that is "heartbreakingly human, and profoundly, terrifyingly, not."

Bones Below Sikandar Mahal: Transports readers to Pakistan's Margalla Hills where, in a cavern lit by mirrors and moonlight, a young woman discovers the mythological source of the Sikandar fortune.

The Crystal Rain Of Porthglos: Follows a mother's desperate fight to protect her son after he is transformed by a mysterious, glowing rainfall in a Cornish coastal village.

For fans of H.P Lovecraft, Jeff VanderMeer and Angela Carter, Wolf's stories have been praised by readers for their willingness to hold a mirror to both the beauty and the brutality of the human condition.

You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
