Due to a reduction in patronage following the pandemic, Carousel Buses informed Oxfordshire County Council of their intention to withdraw service 40 (Thame – High Wycombe) from Sunday 24 July 2022. Following discussions with council officers, Red Rose Travel have agreed to provide a replacement commercial service on this route.
Whilst the Monday to Saturday daytime frequency is the same, there are changes to times throughout and regretfully due to particularly low patronage, this route will no longer serve Towersey.
Due to significantly increased costs, the evening and Sunday service on this route (which is funded by both Oxfordshire County Council and Buckinghamshire Council) has had to be reduced. On Monday to Saturday evenings, journeys will now depart from Thame at 20:10 and from High Wycombe at 19:10 and 21:10. There will be four through journeys on Sundays fitted around main shopping hours in High Wycombe, with an additional journey in each direction between Stokenchurch and Thame – use of these particular journeys will be kept under review.
