Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day 

8th May 2025

Today Thame commemorated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. The community gathered together at Thame War Memorial.
The celebrations will be continuing on tonight, with a Sing-a-Long at sunset at Southern Road Recreation Ground.

Church bells ring out in celebration, St Mary’s Church

Sing-a-Long at Sunset, Southern Rd Recreation Ground.
Bring a chair, your picnic rug, torch, and flag, and enjoy an evening of song with local artists – Thame Concert Band, Ian English, Ross Hardman and Phillipa Mummery. Air and Army Cadets will also be on display and taking part in some competitions.

9.30pm
Lighting of the Beacon, Southern Rd Recreation Ground
Thame will join in the nationwide lighting of the beacons to honour the many sacrifices that secured our freedom.
