The Aylesbury and District League are well into the 2016/17 season now. With local sides Haddenham, Long Crendon, Great Milton and Tetsworth all playing their trade in the ADL, we thought we would take a look at how our local lads were getting on.
After a dismal start to the season, Haddenham United have now recorded back to back league wins and are now off the foot of the table. They currently sit 7th in the ADL Prem with their reserve side unfortunately sitting 8th out of 9 in Division 1.
Long Crendon were promoted in 2nd place last season, and also struggled to pick up points early on. But after a fantastic point away to current champions APBS, Crendon then beat Elmhurst to put them behind rivals Haddenham, also with three games in hand.
Long Crendon Reserves have had a very decent start to their campaign, progressing in two cups and sitting third in ADL Division 2 - without losing a game thus far. Tetsworth FC sit just behind them in 4th, after a very nervous start. Their cup fortunes have been slightly better, beating the Oxford City League champions, Chequers FC 3-1 last weekend in the County Cup and reaching the quarter final of a league cup after beating Ludgershall from the league above 4-2.
Great Milton were rooted to the bottom of division 3, however they have picked up 2 wins in their last 3 games to move them up a couple of places. Despite their results, the club very nearly folded in pre season, and credit where it's due they have competed in games with 9 men and still only lost by one goal...Tetsworth Reserves are in the top four of the same division after winning 6 of their opening 9 league fixtures.
Overall not the best start from our local sides, but there's a long way to go...
