Despite a difficult year we have enjoyed much success under the dynamic leadership of President Charlotte who has enthused us with her charm and positivity. Our club has been strengthened with the new members already making a positive impact with their valuable contributions.
Dreams do come true: In early December, Erica won a Christmas making mask competition and donated her winnings to the local branch of the Hearing Dogs for the Deaf Association. Little did we know that this would be used to sponsor a dog for Rayane who is profoundly deaf and is pictured here (1) with his companion, Diesel. No need for words with such a faithful friend!
Not to be forgotten on December 1st, 75 Hyacinth bulbs were presented by Linda Emery to Donna, the Activity Co-Ordinator for the Residents of Meadowcroft Care Home. All due to a collaborative effort with Inner Wheel and the Thame & District Twinning Association. A truly thoughtful gift which will be therapeutic for the Residents caring for these plants. Linda is seen here (2) with Donna at the handover being ever mindful of adhering to safety protocols.
This year the annual Senior Citizens Tea Party had to be shelved due to Covid-19. Nevertheless, Thame Inner Wheel, Thame Town Council and our Rotarian partners came to the fore when a successful Doorstep Afternoon Tea & floral gift was organised instead for 80 Thame & District residents. Not an easy feat to achieve with huge thanks to Waitrose, SODC, Hampden Masonic Lodge and Ann Midwinter (3), the Mayor of Thame. Contributions in kind and coin were gratefully received and which brought much needed cheer to the elderly.
We now look forward to a challenging year ahead.
