Advance notice of temporary Phoenix Trail closure

23rd July 2026

Thanks to funding from Active Travel England, the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans) are repairing failing verges between Thame and Towersey on the Phoenix Trail/National Cycle Route 57, making the path safer for everyone to use.

The path will be closed between Howland Road B4012 and Chinnor Road (Towersey) to all users from Monday 24th August for a period of approximately 3 weeks.

A diversion will be signed via Eastern Bypass, Thame Road and Chinnor Road however this will not be suitable for all users due to busy/fast roads and limited footways.

Please plan ahead for your journeys. The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust apologise in advance for the inconvenience this will cause.

Haddenham Park Care Home: Stroke UK Meet & Move
Join the Stroke UK Meet & Move monthly support group for stroke survivors and their caregivers. Hosted as part of the Stroke Association support network, each session offers helpful information, resources, and a welcoming community. Stroke survivors can take part in a 45–60 minute exercise class led by a qualified instructor, while caregivers can enjoy coffee and social time in the piano lounge and connect with others. When: Last Tuesday of every month, 11:00am–12:00pm (starting 28 July 2026)Where: Haddenham Park Care Home & Apartments, Tibbs Road, Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, HP17 8FH A supportive space to stay active, share experiences, and meet others affected by stroke.

Join this free monthly support group for people living with Parkinson's and their caregivers. Held on the first Monday of every month from 11:00am–12:00pm, the session includes a gentle, physiotherapist-led exercise class for participants with Parkinson's, while caregivers can enjoy coffee, cake and the opportunity to connect with others in a relaxed, supportive environment.
