A local charity gliding club based at Haddenham needs to find a new home after being forced off of its airfield at short notice, by the landowner.
Upward Bound Trust have been teaching people to fly since 1965 and are a registered charity that teaches young people to fly for as little as £2 per flight. Over the last 53 years, many of their young students have gone on to professional aviation careers or had a lifetime of thrills in aviation sports.
In early February they were told by the landowner that their airstrip will be ploughed up by the end of March.
The landowner says they will help with relocation costs, but because of the short notice, they do not have a new home to go to.
CAN YOU HELP?
Upward Bound Trust are looking for a suitable field, or existing farm airstrip in Oxfordshire or Buckinghamshire. They need a (reasonably) flat field of 1000m x 100m. We can pay agricultural rates for the fields and commercial rates for our small hanger.
They are a weekend-only, winch launch club with 25 active members, so noise and disruption are minimal for the surrounding area.
Do you know someone who owns a suitable piece of land, or an existing farm airstrip that could be extended to suit them?
Please contact Thomas Heidkamp on 07960496806 or [email protected] if you can help.
