Thame Schools’ Cricket Festival 2017

Last Tuesday 23rd May saw the 2nd Thame schools cricket tournament hosted by Thame Town Cricket Club at Church Meadow. Supported by the School Games team in Oxford and Oxfordshire Cricket Board, this competition saw over 100 children taking part, having a lot of fun and displaying some excellent cricket ability, which bodes well for the future.

The year 5/6 students represented six primary schools in the area – Aston Rowant, Mill Lane Community School in Chinnor, St Andrew’s Chinnor, St Joseph’s, Barley Hill and John Hampden. The competition provided opportunities for both boys and girls to compete. The winners of the girls’ competition were St Joseph’s and the boys’ winners were Mill Lane, Chinnor (pictures above ). Both schools will now go on to represent the Oxford City & Thame district in the county finals in July.

Anyone interested in finding out more about cricket opportunities for juniors in Thame should visit the Thame Cricket Club website or  contact Sheena Beard on juniors@thamecricket.org.uk or 01844 213695.

Music in the Park is a one-day family music and dance festival held in the lovely Elms Park in Thame Oxfordshire. To entertain we have two main stages, one for bands and musicians and the other for community choirs, dance troupes, schools, etc. We also have a dedicated acoustic stage housed in a marquee and a busk stop where anyone can turn up and do a spot. Along with all this, there are numerous children’s activities, a wide range of food stalls and trade stands and of course real ale, lager and the very popular Pimms and Cocktail bars. The fabulous Flotsam the Fool circus skills team are back. So come and learn how to juggle or walk on stilts.   Check out the lineup.…
