The match opened brightly for United, with a Tom Ashworth drive from the edge of the box on two minutes forcing the home keeper in to a fine save. Then, on six minutes, United opened the scoring when a through ball found Craig Faulconbridge in space, and he slotted the ball wide of the advancing keeper and in to the bottom corner of the goal.
At this stage it was United who were in the ascendancy, but gradually the home side started to enjoy more possession and put the Thame defence under increasing pressure. However, Perkins in the Thame goal was rarely threatened, with the best chance a drive from the edge of the box on 30 minutes that clipped the outside of the post.
The second half opened in similar fashion to the first, with United pressing forward and they were rewarded with a second goal on 51 minutes. Midfielder Tom Ashworth was fouled on the edge of the box and Dan West stepped-up to strike an unstoppable shot in to the roof of the net.
As much as the home side were enjoying more possession, they continued to struggle to put pressure on the Thame goal, albeit Perkins was called on in the 71st minute to block a shot from wide on the right. With quarter of an hour to go, Nomads got a goal back when, following a short corner, a strike from the edge of the box beat Perkins low to his left.
The home side continued to press, with United content to play on the break, but apart from an effort from 8 yards that Perkins pushed wide of the post, there were very few meaningful chances for the Nomads.
In the end, United held out relatively comfortably and now progress to the next round.
