On 1 February 2017, planning and listed building consent for the building improvements at Thame Museum were granted.
This was for planning application numbers: P16/S3187/FUL and P16/S3188/LB.
Cllr David Bretherton, trustee of Thame Museum, said "We are delighted that planning permission has been given for an extension to the Museum building. Whilst getting to this stage has taken a great deal of effort, more work lies ahead of us to tighten up the specification and gain funding". Cllr David Dodds, chair of Thame Museum, added "We can now start making plans about the way we tell the story of Thame for future generations. The approved plans will also enable the museum to have a greater street presence by restoring its original frontage".
