On a wet Tuesday evening, FC Thame thumped Risborough Rangers 6 - 0 to progress to the quarter finals of the SML League Cup.
Risborough got the half underway but found themselves a goal down inside a minute. A defence splitting pass found Sean Coles who nipped in to prod past the onrushing keeper and give Risborough a mountain to climb if they wanted to progress.
Thame were moving the ball about well on the ASM's zippy surface and it wasn't too long before they had their second. Almond whipped in an inch perfect cross into the Risborough box finding Schmidt who volleyed home to make it 2-0.
4 minutes later and the game was dead and buried. A long punt downfield was met with a towering header by Gant, his cushioned lay off found Schmidt 35 yards out. Schmidt glanced up and spotting Parrack off his line, launched an arrow of a shot over the keeper and into the corner of the net.
on 28 minutes a full blooded challenge left Thame's Nick Gurney writhing in pain on the floor, it was to be his last action of the evening as Tom Gibbons came on to replace him.
Risborough were now growing into the half, Mason Williams spun the Thame defence, only to be thwarted by the keeper. As the half wore on there were a couple more half chances for Risborough but it ended 3-0 with FC Thame looking good value for their lead.
The second half started slowly but with Thame still pushing for a fourth, Peck looked up and spotted a foraging run from left back Brown his inch perfect ball was met with a thunderous volley that just whistled wide of the post.
Risborough looked like they had their best opportunity of the half a few minutes later with a free kick just outside the penalty area. But disappointingly they failed to work the keeper.
On 57 minutes a jinking run from Peck caused Castello to bring the winger down. Almond delivered a curling ball in which saw Prosper climb highest to nod past Parrack. Any hopes of Risborough getting back in the game were now put to bed.
Both sides then freshened things up with changes, Risborough bought Tavender on for Gordan and FC Thame brough Gwilliam and Keeble on for Gant and Kedzierski.
The next 20 or so minutes were all Risborough but unfortunately they lacked the creativity to cut open the FC Thame defence. Thame's game plan looked to be soak up the pressure and then hit on the counter and this came to fruitation on 82 minutes as some nice interchanges between Schmidt and Almond sent Peck through on goal and he made no mistake to make it 5-0.
On 85 minutes FC Thame put some gloss on the scoreline. A Rogers through ball found Peck the wrong side of the defence again, he rounded Parrack who could only bring the winger down for a penalty. Up stepped Almond who cooly slotted home to make it 6-0.
Next up for Thame is Ardley United in the Oxon County Cup on Saturday.
