Haddenham Youth Football Club (HYFC) Under-15 squad is stepping up to take on a marathon fundraising challenge this autumn. On Saturday, September 19, the team will complete a 36-mile sponsored relay challenge at Haddenham Airfield, aiming to raise vital funds for both Katharine House Hospice and a future team training trip to St George’s Park.
The distance of the relay directly mirrors the trek from the team's home ground at Haddenham Airfield to the iconic Wembley Stadium. To tackle the epic 36-mile target, the squad will split into four teams. Each group will complete six laps around a 1.5-mile circuit at the airfield, bringing each team's total to nine miles.
The endurance event will run across two shifts throughout the day, with an estimated total run time of 12 hours. Players will take turns running laps in groups to encourage team building while ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all participants.
Proceeds from the event will be split between two important goals: supporting the palliative care services at Katharine House Hospice and sending the squad to St George’s Park for a "Play Like the Pride" national training experience.
