Opening Saturday 12th September, Thame Museum's latest exhibition continues the Story of Our Town, focusing on the changing face of Thame. Discover how we live now and how our homes have changed over time.
In 1662 Thame was a small town of 156 dwellings. The 2021 census indicated some 5,600 houses, and the town has continued to grow since then. This exciting exhibition focuses on how and why this growth occurred. Victorian improvements in sanitation, the coming of the railway, are just some of the drivers. Two World Wars, an increasing population and a move away from multi-generational living have also played a major role. How we live in and use our homes, both inside and out, has continued to change over time.
The exhibition runs until Saturday 19th December and entrance is free.
