A new group of life savers is being established in Thame by St John Ambulance.
The nation’s leading first aid charity is forming a new unit for adults to complement the popular and well established Cadet unit.
Volunteers at the new group will receive free training in life saving skills, enabling them to provide first aid cover at public events in the local area. The training will also give them the confidence to do the right thing should there be a medical emergency in the local community. No previous experience is required.
Thame’s new unit manager, Rachael Harding, said: ‘We hope there are many people living in and around Thame who would be interested in learning to save lives and to volunteer with St John Ambulance. Of course those first aid skills aren’t just used when the volunteers are at events. Learning first aid means they’re equipped to help family and friends at home, work, or anywhere else that an emergency happens. They can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.’

St John Ambulance is the nation’s leading first aid charity. Every year, more than 800,000 people learn how to save a life through our training programmes, including hundreds of thousands of young people. Our volunteers provide first aid in their communities, keeping people safe at events, and working alongside the NHS in response to 999 calls. We’re also always campaigning to raise awareness of first aid and directly educate the public. First aid is such a simple skill, but it has an incredible impact. We want everyone to learn it, so that they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.
