It’s Walk to School Week this week. This initiative by Living Streets, aims to encourage children and families to travel to school in a healthier and more environmentally friendly way. Today is Day 4, which focuses on sustainability and teaches children how walking to school helps reduce the number of cars on the road, leading to cleaner air, less pollution, and a healthier planet.
Walking to school also promotes fitness, independence, and wellbeing, helping children arrive at school feeling active, refreshed, and ready to learn throughout the day.
Pupils at Barley Hill Primary School and John Hampden Primary School are getting involved this year. Throughout the week they have been encouraged to make active journeys by walking, scooting, cycling, wheeling, or taking part in Park and Stride. Using wallcharts, stickers, and activity diaries, pupils work together to complete as many sustainable journeys as possible, with rewards at the end of the week to celebrate their efforts.
Brilliant work from parents, carers, and staff for supporting healthier travel habits for the future.
