Temporary traffic lights outside The Spread Eagle Hotel in Thame are expected to remain in place while a damaged historic signpost is repaired, according to Thame Town Council.
The council said the lights were installed following damage to the sign outside the hotel and are needed to protect public safety and prevent further harm to the structure. The disruption has caused delays in the town centre, with motorists experiencing increased congestion in recent days.
In a statement, the council confirmed it does not yet know how long the temporary lights will be required. Responsibility for repairing or removing the sign lies with The Spread Eagle Hotel and its insurers.
The sign is both privately owned and listed, meaning no other organisation can carry out the repair work. Thame Town Council said it is in contact with the hotel owners, who are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
