Yesterday evening’s Annual Town Meeting was well attended. Cllr Gilbert gave a summary of his year as Mayor, and provided an update on the UK Town of Culture application, Strategy for Thame, town centre wireless infrastructure, and Project Link (community and youth centre). Thanks were given to the many dedicated volunteers in Thame, and encouraged more people to volunteer their time.
The pre-submitted questions were answered covering a range of topics including potholes, speed limits, Haddenham-Thame greenway, pavements, footpaths, Chinnor Rugby Club, and Thame Community Hospital.
The Mayor invited questions in the open forum. There were further questions on these topics, as well as on Lidl, drain clearing, speed watch, Thames Valley Police precept increase, Thames Water, councillors on the market, and Thame Fire Station.
A resident thanked the Town Council for all they do, highlighting Thame Pride, Thame Sportive and the Town of Culture, which received a round of applause.
To conclude the meeting, the Mayor encouraged people to consider standing as a Town Councillor in next year’s elections and asked those in attendance to give feedback on the meeting.
