Lucy Electric Employees Secure Multiple Wins at Regional Awards

5th March 2026

Lucy Electric is celebrating a series of award successes, with four colleagues securing multiple wins across two major award programmes, highlighting both individual excellence and the company's continued investment in developing the next generation of engineering talent.

Held at the British Motor Museum on 18 February, the Engineering Trust's Annual Awards Evening brought together apprentices, mentors, employers and industry leaders to celebrate excellence in the engineering community. Lucy Electric was well represented, with employees recognised in several categories reflecting both individual achievement and the strength of the company's early careers programme.

Ali Khaled was named Apprentice of the Year for his outstanding development since joining the business. During placements in Health & Safety and Design Engineering, he demonstrated his exceptional attention to detail and proactive approach to identifying and delivering process improvements. His journey from quiet starter to confident and dependable team member highlights his determination and leadership potential.

Samuel Findlow received the Trevor Woodger Award for Career Progression, recognising his move from apprentice to Quality Engineer. He now plays a key role in supporting quality assurance across complex projects while continuing to expand his technical expertise.

Lucy Electric's commitment to nurturing future engineers was further reflected in recognition for two colleagues in the Above and Beyond category. Matthew Bryant, Early Careers Development Partner, received the award for his outstanding contribution to the company's apprenticeship programme, including the development of enhanced mentor training and structured support for apprentices.

Steve Gledhill was Highly Commended in the same category for his professionalism, reliability and dedication to colleagues and customers.

The recognition continued at the Thames Valley Business & Community Awards on 27 February, where Ali Khaled was also named Thames Valley Apprentice of the Year, reinforcing the regional impact of his achievements. Lucy Electric was additionally named as one of just three finalists for Business of the Year, selected from a highly competitive field.

Commenting on the successes, John Griffiths, Lucy Electric CEO, said:

"These awards reflect the talent, ambition and commitment of our people. It is fantastic to see colleagues recognised both within the engineering community and across the wider Thames Valley business region. Supporting the development of future engineers is central to our business, and these achievements show the impact of creating an environment in which talented individuals can grow and thrive."

Lucy Electric continues to expand its early careers programmes, supporting apprentices and graduates as they build long-term careers in engineering and manufacturing. As part of this commitment, the company recently hosted an apprenticeship open evening to showcase career opportunities and inspire the next generation of engineers.
